Siroll® LP 60/70/80 technical rollers for ceramic kilns

Siroll® LP technical rollers are Sirtec’s range of refractory rollers for firing ceramic products in every kiln zone, selected according to the load to be conveyed and the operating conditions. Overall, the LP series meets progressively more demanding requirements for temperature, load and chemical resistance, from traditional ceramics and porcelain stoneware to applications involving heavy operating loads.

Who are LP technical rollers designed for?

The Siroll® LP line is designed for ceramic manufacturers operating roller kilns that need to ensure productivity, product flatness, uninterrupted operation and long roller life. The series addresses the main challenges of the firing process: deformation under load and temperature, thermal cycling, chemical attack and high mechanical stress in the most demanding production environments.

iroll® LP offers an optimum balance of the properties required in service: resistance to thermal cycling and chemical attack combined with high mechanical performance at elevated temperatures. The LP 60, LP 70 and LP 80 grades are built on this platform, each designed for progressively more severe operating conditions.

WHERE TO USE THEM

In which kiln zones are LP rollers used?

Siroll® LP technical rollers can be used throughout the roller-kiln channel, from preheating and firing through to cooling. Grade selection primarily depends on the load applied to the roller and on operating factors such as temperature, thermal conditions and chemical attack.


LP 60, LP 70 and LP 80 are designed for progressively more demanding operating conditions, particularly in terms of mechanical load and operating temperature.


When an application requires specific performance at high temperatures, under severe thermal variations, in highly aggressive chemical environments or under particular mechanical stresses, the base formulations of the LP range can be modified to create the ultra-technical Siroll® XL, HPR and Ti solutions, each designed for specific application requirements.

Frequently asked questions about LP technical rollers

What is the difference between LP 60, LP 70 and LP 80?

The Siroll® LP 60, LP 70 and LP 80 grades differ in blend composition, physical properties and manufacturing process.

  • Chemically, they differ in the quantities of raw materials used in their formulations.
  • Physically, they differ in apparent porosity, water absorption and bulk density, but above all in modulus of elasticity, a key parameter for assessing roller behaviour and its ability to withstand applied loads.
  • From a manufacturing perspective, the grades are fired at different temperatures in the chamber kilns used to produce the rollers.

The choice between LP 60, LP 70 and LP 80 therefore mainly depends on the load applied to the roller and operating parameters such as temperature, thermal conditions and chemical attack.

There is no single maximum temperature for Siroll® LP rollers: in-service resistance mainly depends on the combination of temperature and applied load.

With no load applied, the rollers can operate at temperatures above 1,400 °C. In service, however, the safe limit is determined by the combination of temperature, load and operating conditions. When temperature and load exceed the material’s critical threshold, the roller may undergo permanent deformation or ultimately fail.

Roller selection must therefore be based on the kiln’s operating temperatures and the applied loads.

Each grade has an identification colour: LP orange, LP 60 green, LP 70 blue and LP 80 yellow. The colour code makes it easy to identify the correct roller on the production floor.
